My Top 10 Vertigo Graphic Novels That Should Be Adapted into Movies or TV series (There are some Spoilers within the articles)

Properties such as the Preacher, DMZ, Izombie and Scalped are all said be either being adapted to be films or Television shows, so here is my list which Vertigo Graphic Novels that should be adapted on either on the big screen or on your home TV.

1. Transmetropolitan

Difficult it may look from page by page  but I think a Transmetropolitan will awe too look at on the big screen in today's technology The world of Transmetropolitan is one of the most strangest and unique Cyberpunk influence worlds I have seen in comic or any sci-fi anything I have seen in many years. The story is about a crazed and rebellious gonzo journalist name Spider Jerusalem and  his two o"Filthy Assistants" Channon Yarrow and Yelena Rossini  who is trying to unveil three corrupt elected candidates running for the presidency. Years ago a Transmetropolitan movie was in development the rumors and speculations of chances seeing was later toss in trash when Ellis twitted there is no production of a Transmetropolitan movie. I hope someday a Transmertropolitan movie or TV adaptation idea will be picked up from the bin and hopefully have the same style and charisma  as the comic.

2. Alan Moore's Swamp Thing

A serious tone Swamp Thing is really pass due since we had that Swamp Thing film in 1982 that was great of its time but now its really dated. A remake of Swamp Thing that is adapted from Alan Moore's comic run will be interesting to see. Alan Moore's Swamp Thing is dark, complex and poetic type of storytelling compare to its earlier issues dated back in the early 1970s. I think a Swamp Thing movie made by modern cinema can create a eye dropping Fantasy Epic. Right now Guillermo del Toro is said Swamp Thing is the later upcoming movies in list to be made after a Justice League Dark adaptation. But if Guillermo del Toro drops the movie altogether, I can imagine a darker Swamp Thing movie going in the hands of a director such as a Percy Jackson or a Darren Aronofsky.

3. The Sandman

Among many Graphic Novels that are in desire need to be adapted in films I think Sandman movie is long overdue. Nail Gailman the writer of Sandman have been saving a Sandman movie until a dedicated director like a Percy Jackson or Sam Rami, that will take good care of his property. But even Nail Gailmen is also waiting a Sandman movie to be seen on either on the big screen or on TV. As of right now actor Joseph Gordon Levitte is said star in the Sandman and screenwriter of Man of Steel David Goyer is trying pitch in the movie adaption to Warner Bros. There are no confirmed plans of a Sandman underway anytime soon and every time they confirm a Sandman movie later on is probably never going to happen. Hopefully this is true and maybe Sandman will become a smashing fantasy hit like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or the Harry Potter series.

4. 100 Bullets

Either a TV series or a Movie this Graphic Novel crime drama needs to happen one way or another. The premise of a old man wearing a suit and giving you a suitcase and inside stores a gun with untraceable bullets, where you become above the law and whoever you kill you won't be charge of any particular murder. 100 Bullets is a story too good to be left on a shot. 100 Bullets have sordid characters, a gritty unique atmosphere and a well detail story line that I think differentiate from many neo-noir dramas. Way back Showtime said to be developing a 100 Bullets TV series for there upcoming shows bracket. But sadly as times goes on it seems that it isn't happening anytime soon or probably never will happen. I'm a big fan of 100 Bullets and I do feel a 100 Bullets TV series will do better than a 2hr film. I think a 2hr film won't have  the time to develop all of the characters that are portrayed in the Graphic Novel.

5. Invisibles

The Invisibles is nowhere near but subtle or a average sci-fi drama instead The Invisibles has to be the most shocking over the top and controversial Graphic Novel that Grant Morrison has ever done. A brief snyposis of Invisibles tells a story of four characters name King Mob who is the leader of the group and really resembles Spider Jerusalem from Transmertropolitan, Lord Fanny who appears to be a Transsexual shaman Brazilian, Boy a former NYPD cop, Ragged Robin who is a telepathy with a unknown past and Jack Frost a once obnoxious teem who might be the next Buddha. Together they must fight against a group of aliens called Achons of Outer Church. Alien Gods that have brought down humanity down to its knees without the human race not even knowing. So have I lost you yet? Invisibles is really a complex concept which I think it will make difficult to adapt as a movie but I think it work better as a high budgeted TV series.

6. American Vampire

History and Vampires perfect combinations that will make a perfect setting for a period horror drama for a TV series. American Vampire tells the story of a woman name Pearl Jones who sets out her career to be a Hollywood actress until she is later tricked and bitten by a group of Vampires posing as Hollywood executives.Pearl Jones meets an anti-hero name Skinner Sweet and both of them go through a long life span through time without worrying about getting any older. Pearl Jones and Skinner Sweet face many threats of new evolution's of Vampires to a group of Vampire Hunters called the Vessels of the Morning Star. I think American Vampire will make interesting premise of TV show instead of a movie.

7. Fables

There have been shots of trying to make a Fables adaption for a long time if is a movie or a TV show. Fables is a story of fictional fairy tales and folk stories living in our world in a small community in New York City called Fabletown and Upstate New York where many anthropomorphic animals stay called The Fram.On December 2008 ABC Studio did pick up the rights to make a Fables television show. The Fables was develop to have its on pilot and a season that will start on beginning year 2009-2010. However, its seem that wasn't the case at all and chances seeing a Fable series was second to none, well during that time. Later on show co-creators of Once Upon A Time Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz made a series that had a similar plot prior to Fables. Both Edward and Hororwitz mention that they have read some stories of Fables but they were sure that they were telling a different story compare what they have read of Fables. Despite the troubling news Fables is doing well in comic sells and the video-gaming market. Also Warner Bros. Studios is developing a live action of Fables and it said to be Jeremy Slater will be the screenwriter and Nikolaj Arcel will be the director. There is no sign of moving production as of now though.

8. Lucifer

The most controversial Graphic Novel I think being adapted into being a movie or TV series will be Lucifer. Even the name alone is target for many religious groups ready to wage there pitch forks at the media. Lucifer is a spin-off series from Nail Gailman Sandman series that was later granted its own solo series titled Lucifer written by Mike Carey. Lucifer portrays as a main character that center around the grey area of humanities greatest dangers of free will and acts of rebellion. Lucifer is very much a villain but his fictional point of view adaptation allow the audience to see another side of Lucifer that makes us learn that he is probably even more sinister we already view him to be. Maybe one day I would be proven wrong and a particular studio will take a interest to make a Lucifer series or a movie. But first we have to know will a The Preacher series will set with average audience. Now days many people love seeing dark anti-heroes such as characters from American Horror Story, Hannibal and the Walking Dead. Even I know a Lucifer series or movie could push controversy by most people, but I would't complain getting a Lucifer series or movie neverthless.

9. Y: The Last Man

What if all the Men everywhere in the world all died and women took over the world? As a guy I don't want to even imagine such a world. Y: Last Man is a story about Yorick Brown who becomes the Last Man on earth after a diseases kills every male species on earth. Yorick journeys with Agent 355 who is Yorick's bodyguard and also belongs with a declassified government United States division. Yorick journey's across Washington almost everywhere in America constantly being haunted down by female extremist and also being haunted by his own sexual desires. I think Y: The Last Man story line and concept can make a astounding sci-fi thriller if is made for a television show or a movie. As of right now the movie part is about dead. Recently Dan Tracthenberg was said to be directing Y: The Last Man and David Goyer did announce they were closer of finishing the script of Y: The Last Man. However, not making a movie in time the rights of Y: The Last Man soon controverted back to Pia Guerra. Brian K Vaughan saying the fact "It's my understanding that the rights to Y: The Last Man will revert back to co-creator Pia Guerra and me for the first time in a decade if the planned New Line adaptation doesn't start shooting in the next few months."  Will probably won't see a Y: The Last Man movie probably the next 10 more years or so hopefully another director or studio will pick up the rights later down the road.

10. Cuba My Revolution

Cuba My Revolution is a short autobiographical Graphic Novel written by Inverna Lockpez and art by Dean Haspiel and coloring by Jose Villaruboa. Cuba My Revolution tells a story of a young female Cuban Soldier name Sonya who is inspire to be a soldier of Cuban Army but later learns the dark secrets that linger behind there government.Sonya must decide to flee from her corrupt country causing her to forsake her family. Cuban My Revolution tells a compelling political thriller that I find suitable as a movie and story that will be engaging see on the big screen. But I always view this particular story more of a independent film same as the Graphic Novel Blue is the Warmest Color that was adapted as a indie movie released on fall of 2013.

So here's my list but I like to know yours please leave comment tell me which Vertigo Graphic Novel or any Graphic Novel for that matter that you think should be turn into a movie or Television show. And please follow me on the Daily Renegade.
