Daily Renegade News: Marvel News Roundup

 Doctor Strange as Johnny Depp

There have been recent rumors about Marvel wanting Johnny Depp famous actor who have played recent Disney film franchises of Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice & Wonderland and sadly that poorly made Lone Ranger movie in 2013. Love him or hate his roles many fans like myself will be exciting for Depp to bring Dr. Strange to life in Marvel phase. It will add some creative  flavor if Johnny Depp was on board in the Marvel cinematic universe. Also what we have seen Johnny Depp recently in movies these days, I think the popularity of Marvel Studios will help boost Johnny's career. Sadly Johnny Depp has turn down the rumors of him being Dr. Strange. Johnny Depp has even stated in a few interviews and questions that he is really busy acting and working in his upcoming movie Transparent among many other movies also. Also Dr, Strange probably won't come out for a very long time.Marvel studios even suggest that they probably don't need a well known actor such as a Depp to bring in a wider audience. Although a star power such as a Johnny Depp wouldn't hurt either. In most chances Marvel will probably choose an lesser known actor to obtain the all mighty sorcery of Dr. Strange.

Netflix & Daredevil

Netflix's Darker tone Marvel series Daredevil will be in production in New York city  and the Defenders team as a whole will start filming in New York in the next few years. The only informative information we have on Daredevil is the first episode of Daredevil is being written by Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard. Jessica Jones series is also stated that show is being developed by the hands of female screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. What have been knowing from Netflix project way back it was announced in last year of 2013 the more I'm excited that is actually happening. Its time that Marvel/Disney bring about something more serious and more adult orientated that would help them differentiate from there past and present Marvel phase movies. Majority of Marvel movies and there TV show Agents of Shield are known for there light heartiness, action & adventure tone. I love Marvel movies more than the next fan but I would love Netflix to tackle the more realistic and darker side of the Marvel universe. And knowing Netflix writers can handle a serious tone of a political drama such as a House of Cards, I think a House of Cards kind of writing and style can fit in perfectly with Matt Murdock's lawyer courtroom persona. However, the Daredevil persona have to be more interesting than Matt's conflict inside the courtroom. The Daredevil Netflix series is promised to be schedule in 2015 including with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist series. All four superheroes will crossover in each last episode to make up a Defender series as well.

Daily Renegade Thoughts: What I think of The Preacher and DMZ future series

  1. Popular movie comedian and comedy acclaim screenwriter Seth Rogen attempts to bring Grath Eennis Graphic novel Preacher to life on AMC.

Of all the comic news I know so far this has to be the exciting news that I know off and I'm stoked for this announcement. For years there have been a lot of roadblocks of attempting to adapt Preacher on HBO. Due to the religious controversies, HBO executives never wanted to take risks of taking on such a dark property. Garth Eennis also tried to adapt the Preacher Novel into a movie but even I can understand a Preacher film adaption wouldn't give us time to make us really know the characters from the book and all the experience to take viewers to relate the crude weirdness from the books. Now knowing this news that Preacher would be on AMC I'm half excited and half skeptical. What you read in the Preacher is where you will never get the the drawn images from out of your head. The Preacher is really a controversial, has the most vulgar language and disturbing and demonic characters that I ever seen and read in a comic book next to John Constantine Hellblazer. The problem is will AMC tone down the dark elements from the book that makes the Preacher so special? What we seen from Walking Dead is we know that the writers and the director behind the property isn't shy to show us the graphic violence that we all love. Preacher however, is more graphic than the Walking Dead and AMC probably will tone a lot elements from the books. This is why I feel kinda of skeptical and disappointed in the same time. If the Preacher was adapted on HBO or Showtime, Netflix etc there would be less likely no restrictions and guidelines for this show. Less restrictions and guidelines will give us the true adaptation of the Preacher. On the bright side AMC have made recent acclaimed and short lived drama series such as Mad Men, Walk Dead, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, The Killing (Season One-Three) and Low Winter Sun (Season One 2013).

2. Mad Men writers are behind the DMZ live action adaption on Syfy

This news was announced on early February that executive producers Andre and Maria alongside with the Gravity producer David Heyman will attempt to adapt the  DC comic Vertigo comic DMZ. The show will be settled on Syfy, which I think is a fine place for DMZ. For a guy myself who isn't all that much into Sci-fi or the Syfy channel altogether this will be the show that will make me keep coming back to tune in more Syfy. If done right this will be the best post apocalyptic show ever next to Walking Dead and Falling Skies (The Alien version of Walking Dead in my opinion). The images and huge scoop in DMZ comic is massive and my problem is I don't think Syfy can't handle such a budget. If DMZ dose well with the following ratings and the funding then be looking forward to a renew season and hopefully as the future of the show progresses the special effects will improve as well. If not than be looking for to see DMZ with a crappy budget or wait to know the news that show  will probably be canceled after one season and be replace with another game show or Ghost show. DMZ has a epic unique story and with a such a story I hope the creator of Graphic Novel Brain Wood will be more involve in the project. With the Brain Wood's involvement and the Mad Men and Gravity producers there is now doubt that DMZ will be a future hit show on Syfy.

Daily Renegade Spoiler Review: Walking Dead Midseason Episode After

In the beginning of the episode the story introduces with Michonne slashing zombies with her classic samurai sword nearby the ruin prison. We get a satisfying image  Governor lying dead grass with a gunshot wound in his forehead. Michonne decapitates two zombies and use them as a decoy or being undetected by other zombies like she was first introduce in season two. After Michonne's spotlight were both introduce to Rick and Carl Grimes. Rick is seen walking across the road with Carol weak as as Carl's walks ahead more vigilant and alert. In Carl's viewpoint you have a sense of insight that Carl as consume all the recent tragedies, violence and despair from the recent episodes.Carl has developed into more of independent character who isn't afraid of anyone especially from a Walker.                                                                                                  Finally Rick and Carl finds shelter in a abandon house.Inside the house Carl talks back and challenges Rick as they talk in the house. Rick notices that Carl isn't what he use to be that he is changing for the worst. Carl acts cold and angered but as you watch can you really blame him? The story also shows a short dream sequence of Michonne's past. Michonne shown in the dream as a clam loving housewife cutting food in the kitchen.                                                                                                                                              Michonne also uses her sword to cut the food as well. Looks like Michonne's sword isn't just use to chop off heads. Michonne's possible past views her character who once had humanity in her life.In the kitchen there are two African American men sitting by the kitchen table laughing and having a good time. Two of the men recalls Michonne as "honey."                                                                                                               As Michonne's dream begins to alternates the two men starts  talking about the zombie invasion as Michonne is seen holding a baby boy. The men finally changes into the men that Michonne use to use as pets so zombie wouldn't detect her. The dream gives a insight that Michonne use to have a peaceful life and she once was a mother before everything went to hell. Michonne soon wakes from the dream sequence and walks forth with a pack of Walkers. As Michonne walks with the pack of Walkers Michonne sees a female African American Walker who has the same dreadlocks similar to Michonne.                                                      Michonne looks at the Walker unease, like Michonne is seeing a dark mirror image of of herself. Back to Rick and Carl, Carl awakes up as Rick is unconscious on the couch.Carl decides to go outside to lower two Walkers outside the house. Carl acts cock eye as he lowers the two Walkers from the house not knowing there is a Walker lowering from behind him from the bushes. Carl kills three of Walkers feeling empowered and happy. Carl goes back to the house chatting to unconscious Rick of how he killed three Walkers all by himself.                                                                                                                                             From Carl's insulting dialogue Carl blames his father Rick of all deaths and tragedies he put on to his baby sister Judith, the love ones and the rest of group. Carl also mentions harshly that Rick would be better off "dead." Returning to Michonne's character Michonne walks with a pack of Walkers seeing the same Walker who shares the mirror image of herself. Michonne emotionally kills the Walker and slashes her way of out of the group of Walkers. After of all the Walkers are all died Michonne breaks out crying of her past and who she has become. However, wondering inside the house Carl stumbles upon a surprising Walker that almost gets the jump on Carl from inside a bedroom.                                                                                              The Walker almost effects Carl by trying to chew Carl's leg but Carl  fights his way out and escapes out the bedroom. Carl relax against the door that he trapped the Walker inside of. Carl writes on the door using a piece of yellow chalk  "Walker almost got my shoe." This scene shows that Carl feels that he can survive on his own and he can get away from any danger without Rick's help. Carl is seen again calmly sitting on a roof eating a box of pudding as a zombie tries to reach for him through a open window. We return from Michonne's point of view of her tying to retrace Rick and Carl's footprints. Michonne walks inside the same  shack where Rick and Carl was trying to find food and random supplies. Michonne sits by open door saying how much she miss her beloved "Mike."                                                                                                             Another emotional scene that Michonne use to care and love someone dearly before she turn into a cold vengeful being she has become. Coming back to Rick and Carl to the end Carl sits beside unconscious Rick. Rick slowly tries to get up off the couch making Carl thinking that Rick as turn into a Walker. Carl aims his gun to weaken Rick but Carl has no willingness to kill his own father even if he is a Walker. Thankfully Rick recalls Carl, as "Carl" which gives Carl a message that Rick isn't turn into a Walker. Rick and Carl consult one another as Carl apologizes to Rick of all the wrong sayings he did Rick as he was conscious and unconscious.                                                                                                                                 In the of the story Rick refers Carl as a "man." Carl accepts Rick gratitude finally realizing that Carl can be independent just like his father. In the end of show Rick and Carl notices that some is by the front door. Rick briefly laughs Carl is alert. Rick replies to Carl, "Its for you." So dose this means that can the person behind the door is the same Walker that tried to kill Carl earlier before or can it be Michonne who is trying to find both Rick and Carla after the destruction of the prison?
My overall thoughts of this recent episode is that I really enjoyed this episode. This show delivered me good depth and showed me great development into Carl's character. Carl isn't just the scared  little son he like he was in the first episodes. This episode showed me that Carl can be strong, arrogant and dangerous all in the same time. I loved the insight of Michonne's hidden past. We finally know that Michonne isn't just a bad ass head chopping zombie slayer but something more to her entirely. My only gripe is I wish we would've of seen the other characters after there escape from the prison. But sadly we'll have to seem next week I suppose.
My overall rating has to be
9/10
Let me know what's your thoughts of Walking Dead New episode and please leave a comment.

Daily Renegade Topics: Four Marvel Reboots that need to happen in the future.

These are my Four Marvel Reboot should come back to the big screen.

Number One A Daredevil Reboot.
The original Daredevil movie that was released in a decade ago was a huge disappointment for the quality of the character. Daredevil and Elektra fighting on top of a teeter totter scene um no... I know there making a Netflix series of Daredevil schedule for release in 2015 but in a cinematic version I would like to see a Bendis Daredevil adaptation. Bendis run of Daredevil is so complex and it the stories show depth of Matt Murdock's character. If the reboot is done right I can see a Batman Begins version of Daredevil that  fans would go crazy for.

Number Two A Punisher Reboot

Yes I know Punisher had three tries and they all sucked  all way back to since the awful 80s Punisher of him fighting against the Yakuza and when he didn't even had the SKULL ON HIS CHEST! The short film Dirty Laundry that was shown in San Diego comic con with Thomas Jane as acting Punsiher gave me hope that a Punisher adaptation can at least work some day. If they ever do a Punisher reboot I would like to see a MAX version of Punisher. Gritty emotional, realistic revenge driven  story. If they can make a Wire, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad and hundred cop shows on TV to be good than I see no reason what makes Punisher so hard to do. The down side of even seeing a future reboot of Punisher is the Disney/Marvel involvement. I don't see Marvel and Disney taking such a risk with a Hard R character. Maybe one day we will see Frank Castle on the big screen and which, will finally see his rightful bloody treatment.

Number Three: A Elektra Reboot

First appearance in the Daredevil movie and then died, then a few years later Elektra had her own movie that also failed. Ugh where's the love. Many others may not see it but I think Elektra should have better treatment as being such as awesome ninja chick that we all know from the Frank Miller  Daredevil comics. Elektra has potential of having a good dark mature movie. The reason that I'm skeptical and I'm afraid if they ever make another attempt of a Elektra movie. It will become a shallow comparison to the Underworld movies or the Resident Evil movies. Movies that all have strong female lends but all fail story wise and critic wise. I want Elektra to have a good and well performed reboot not something that will only be looked upon as another Underworld movie but with ninjas.

Number Four: A Blade Reboot

Since Blade's absence after that disappointment Blade Trinity vampire movies have gone to the light and not in a good way. Teenage Vampire movies such as Twilight have destroy are faith of seeing a bad ass vampire movies. A major reason why Blade needs to come back to prove us all again what are vampires truly about. Marvel have rights back from FOX so we might see a future Blade reboot in future but its most likely Marvel will give the rights to  Blade to another studio. Same as Punisher's predicament I doubt Disney/Marvel will take a chance of a bloody Hard R Blade movie. And I know every fan don't want to see a water down PG-13 version of Blade.

My thoughts for the recent casting for the Superman vs Batman movie (2016)

The Overview:
What I think of the recent casting choices is I want to be surprise! People are comparing the casting as a "Heath Ledger Joker" but this movie is having a whole lot of Heath Ledger like actors to play many iconic DC characters. Many DC fans are outraged many are optimistic many are like uh??? Long time ago before Ben Affleck was cast every fan thought Josh Brolin or Karl Urban would be cast as Batman. Soon the odds were out and Ben was the true Batman. Many fans were upset because they could never view past Ben's Daredevil shadow not caring that Ben have recently star leading roles in movies in the Town and Argo. And have showed his directing skills for directing the best picture Argo. Soon Gal Gadot was announced as Wonder Woman and many fan criticism burst on Twitter and many blog and social networking sites. Fans of the character are skeptical  if she has the acting chops and strong tone as Wonder Woman. We are are yet to proven wrong what we see of Gal being Wonder Woman until what I see and what the rest audience see on the big screen. Days ago it was announced that Jesse Eisenberg the star that is known for the Social Network, Zombieland and Now You See Me is now the new Lex Luthor. Instead of a older actor such as a Bryan Cranston or Mark Strong to play the infamous . Lastly critical acclaim actor Jeremy Irons is up to play Alfred Pennyworth who fans are hoping for to be more of a Batman Earth One Alfred compare to the quite and well mannered Pennyworth we see in older comics, movies and animated television series.

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor: My thoughts:

Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor I think will give a whole new young outlook of Lex. Many people think he would play a younger Lex in the first early half of the movie as a flashback then it would introduce a older Lex in the rest of the film. If not than I would like to see Jesse to play more of a creepy and yet and genius like sob as Lex Luthor persona. Many people argue that Bryan Cranston who played the famous anti villain Walter White in Breaking Bad should be Lex Luthor. The reasons that I am glade they didn't choosing Bryan Cranston or a Mark Strong for the role is I would like to see a surprising and younger actor to play Lex Luthor. If Bryan Cranston did play Lex I would be worried that people will only see "Walter White" or "Heisenberg" vs Superman and Batman than "Lex Luthor." I want the character Lex to have is own identity instead of seeing Walter White on the big screen.

Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman My thoughts:

As Ben Affleck has Batman I think he has became a mature and experience enough actor to recover from his Daredevil. Also I think even his performance in Daredevil was also good. It just the movie had a bad script and direction overall. Ben Affleck has proven to us that he can show us amazing performances and even can prove to us that he can also shine through such dull films like Runner Runner.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman My thoughts:

Gal Gadot has shown her recent performances in the recent Fast movies in smaller roles in other movies. Gal Gadot is shown to be skinny due to her modeling career but now she can prove to the audience that she can play a iconic bad ass super heroin in the upcoming Superman/Batman and a standalone Wonder Woman movie. Now what I think of this casting choice is I don't really mind it. If they can train Gal to her highest capability that I see no wrong. Many fans and people general think Wonder Woman should look like a female body builder or some sort which she isn't at all. Many people don't really know or  how Wonder Woman should like or how she should be perceive. Many people want Wonder Woman to be either a hot sex symbol or a iconic female role model. When Wonder Woman is finally reveal on the big screen then that will be the day what  people will view and think about Wonder Woman in the cinematic side. As a DC fan I'm rooting for Gal Gadot all the day way and hope she can prove all the naysayers wrong.
