Daily Renegade Thoughts: What I think of The Preacher and DMZ future series

  1. Popular movie comedian and comedy acclaim screenwriter Seth Rogen attempts to bring Grath Eennis Graphic novel Preacher to life on AMC.

Of all the comic news I know so far this has to be the exciting news that I know off and I'm stoked for this announcement. For years there have been a lot of roadblocks of attempting to adapt Preacher on HBO. Due to the religious controversies, HBO executives never wanted to take risks of taking on such a dark property. Garth Eennis also tried to adapt the Preacher Novel into a movie but even I can understand a Preacher film adaption wouldn't give us time to make us really know the characters from the book and all the experience to take viewers to relate the crude weirdness from the books. Now knowing this news that Preacher would be on AMC I'm half excited and half skeptical. What you read in the Preacher is where you will never get the the drawn images from out of your head. The Preacher is really a controversial, has the most vulgar language and disturbing and demonic characters that I ever seen and read in a comic book next to John Constantine Hellblazer. The problem is will AMC tone down the dark elements from the book that makes the Preacher so special? What we seen from Walking Dead is we know that the writers and the director behind the property isn't shy to show us the graphic violence that we all love. Preacher however, is more graphic than the Walking Dead and AMC probably will tone a lot elements from the books. This is why I feel kinda of skeptical and disappointed in the same time. If the Preacher was adapted on HBO or Showtime, Netflix etc there would be less likely no restrictions and guidelines for this show. Less restrictions and guidelines will give us the true adaptation of the Preacher. On the bright side AMC have made recent acclaimed and short lived drama series such as Mad Men, Walk Dead, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, The Killing (Season One-Three) and Low Winter Sun (Season One 2013).

2. Mad Men writers are behind the DMZ live action adaption on Syfy

This news was announced on early February that executive producers Andre and Maria alongside with the Gravity producer David Heyman will attempt to adapt the  DC comic Vertigo comic DMZ. The show will be settled on Syfy, which I think is a fine place for DMZ. For a guy myself who isn't all that much into Sci-fi or the Syfy channel altogether this will be the show that will make me keep coming back to tune in more Syfy. If done right this will be the best post apocalyptic show ever next to Walking Dead and Falling Skies (The Alien version of Walking Dead in my opinion). The images and huge scoop in DMZ comic is massive and my problem is I don't think Syfy can't handle such a budget. If DMZ dose well with the following ratings and the funding then be looking forward to a renew season and hopefully as the future of the show progresses the special effects will improve as well. If not than be looking for to see DMZ with a crappy budget or wait to know the news that show  will probably be canceled after one season and be replace with another game show or Ghost show. DMZ has a epic unique story and with a such a story I hope the creator of Graphic Novel Brain Wood will be more involve in the project. With the Brain Wood's involvement and the Mad Men and Gravity producers there is now doubt that DMZ will be a future hit show on Syfy.

As a Fan of Vertigo comics this has to be best news I have known for a long time. So I want to know what your thoughts for the two future Graphic Novel adaptations.
