Daily Renegade Opinions: The Pros and Cons of the Fantastic Four Casting

Year ago it was rumored for awhile that Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Micheal B. Jordan will be the lead roles in the Fantastic Four reboot now it has been official confirmed that Miles Teller, Jamie Belle, Kate Mara and Micheal B. Jordan are going to be playing the roles of Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards, Thing /Brian Grimm, Invisible Woman/Sue Storm and Johnny Storm/Human Torch.

Starting with the Pros I don't why people see the big deal of having a younger Fantastic Four also knowing the original actors from the first movies were also young themselves? The young choice in the cast has to be Miles Teller who is 27 years old. Kate Mara is 30 years old no different than how Sue Storm is originally aged in the comics. Micheal B Jordan is also 27 the same age as Miles Teller and about the same age as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the comics. B Jordan will know doubt will capture the likeness and cockiness that we are so fawn of with Human Torch/Johnny Storm's character.Jamie Bell who is also 27 is going to play rock solid Thing. To me Jamie Bell feels out place in the cast because to me I think he is to young to play the Thing and also he doesn't lookalike he has the muscular weight to play him as well. Aside from there ages Kate and B Jordan are all talented actors no doubt. Kate Mara did a fanatic job of acting in the critical acclaim political drama in Netflix House of Cards, B Jordan did a amazing job as acting in a lead role in Fruitvale Station and Chronicle as well. Jamie Belle over his past acting career has won eleven awards all through 2000-2005. Jamie Belle begun is acting career as being the lead child actor in the British drama Billy Elliot that won many award nominations. Jamie Belle's latest lead role will be AMC new period drama series Turn. Jamie Bell has proven to the audience and critics that he can be a talented and a serious actor. And possible that might portray the CGI effect with the character Thing's portrayal. Way back from the first 2005 Fanatics Four film Michael Chiklis played the Thing by using particle effects, but the reason he could get away with it because of his muscular body tone. Jamie Belle is not muscular especially compare to Micheal Chiklis. So its most likely and understanding the reboot should go with the CGI route with Thing/Ben Grimm. Like any CGI character Jamie Belle will do the voice, motion capture and the studio would do the rest of the animation. In my opinion I think CGI is the best, even thou many people dislike and would side with practical effects.  I have to admit by using CGI you can do unimaginable and creative effects using CGI. And as as fan of Thing/Ben Grimm character I want to see the Thing go all out.

Now with cons I'm not happy with Miles Teller choice to play as both Mr. Fantastic and the Thing. To me only I saw from Teller was from 21 & Over, Project X, That Awkward Moment and Footlose where he is often typecast as sometimes a goofy party boy but he did outshine in his role in critical Sundance film Spectacular Now. However, knowing Mr. Fanatic/Reed Richards is suppose to be a scientific genius sadly I can't see Miles Teller portraying such a character. Maybe in this film will see Miles Teller will show us that he can separate himself from such roles that we have see him as. Another gripe have with Micheal B Jordan and Kata Mara acting choice is why couldn't make Invisible Woman black as they did with Human Torch? As a die hard comic fan I don't really care about race swapping because if the diverse actor from the studio's choice, can play almost any fictional character and portray the same attitudes/feelings/personalities as the character from the source material  However,  in my opinion having a African American member in the cast seems forced because it doesn't follow the source material that Kate Mara and B Jordan are brother and sister siblings. Its mostly likely that B Jordan and Kate Mara will be twins from a interracial marriage or B Jordan will be adopted. To me that's really disappointing because there are many African American female actresses that can do a better as Kate Mara. To me its like the movie is trying to hard to be different but if the movie turns out to be a big hit than I probably forget how much they have change the source material and just realize this is re-imagining. All of us know this is FOX version and we should all know this reboot will be no way near like the source material that we are familiar of. That's the same for any beloved property from video games, to novels and graphic novels that we cherish. Major Hollywood studios buy these popular properties and they change them for the better and the worst. We only hope that this movie will turn out to be good and won't turn out as those two awful Fantastic Four movies.
