X-Men Days of Future Past Review

X-Men Days of Future Past Review

THE PROS

1. The Character Development

The Character Development in X-Men Days of Future Past is up par with any X-Men movie or any movie I've seen so far.How Charles personality from the beginning in year 1973 compare to who he becomes in the future is a beautiful character study. After First Class Young Charles is viewed as a hopeless and lifeless. Wolverine later convinces Charles Xavier to regain his powers back by encouraging what's in stake in the future. In the future Magneto is Charles Xavier's ally but in the past Magneto is a enemy to Xavier and to the rest of the younger X-Men. Mystique played by actor Jennifer Lawrence who is currently a hot name in Hollywood, really played her part amazingly well in X-Men Days of Future Past. I really felt for her character more than what I've seen from her in X-Men First Class. In this film Mystique shares the personality and charisma from Rebecca Romjin and but also shaking her own little spice of it as well. Wolverine is always viewed as a crazy, animal beast that we all known him for but in this film Wolverine being the lead role is shown something more than just being used for action roles. In this movie Wolverine is portrayed as the voice of reason and balance. Which I think is a different touch on the Wolverine character.

2. The Visual Effects and the Tone

From the outlooks of the future, to the outlook of the era of the 70s, to the amazing Sentinel fights from both the past and the future, to Mystique morphing effects, to Magneto's gravitational force and Quicksilver's epic after breaking out Magneto from jail. There are so much great scenes from this movie I can't even begin to start. The Sentinel's are visually stunning from what you see from both the comics and on screen. The whole future consumable in the beginning and in the middle is beautifully scary. The tone of the movie is really well constructed. I like how the movie did not lose its focus even though there are some humor here and there. But even the humor is perfectly balance, same goes for the violent graphic action scenes.

3. The Villains and there Motivations

People say its hard to put three villains in a full 2hr movie  "cough" Spider-Man 3  "cough" and.... not let's not forget Amazing Spider-Man 2. When comes to having three or more villains in a superhero movie each villain will often have more screen time or development than the other which lessens the audience's interest with the characters in  the movie, which also causes the villains to be unbalance and uneven. X-Men Days of Future Past however, surpass all of those problems. Bolivar Trask, Magneto and Mystique played there roles perfectly as villains and Director Bryan Singer gave them equal enough screen time to develop there characters.Bolivar Trask there creator of Sentinels want's to create live machines to save the human race from the a Mutant epidemic, Magneto want to attack the human race to give Mutants a message from allover that they should not be afraid and that they should stand up against there oppressors, and Mystique dabbles between the lines of trying to do what is right and what is wrong to strive to save the Mutantkind. Simple Motivations such as these makes the villains not as black and white but allowing all of them to have grey areas deep beneath there evil plans.

The Con and Verdict

The only negative  thing I will say about this movie I would like to see more of the bleak future than seeing only one segment of the X-Men hiding in mountains of China. But aside from that small gripe all I have to say that this movie is x-ellect, yeah I went there. And  I also appreciate that this movie has really helped to fix a lot of continuity errors from the past X-Men movies.

My Overall rating a

10/10 Its everything I ever wanted from a X-Men title. If your a X-Men Fan or Non X-Men fan watch either way you will enjoy this movie as not just a Superhero film but just a well made film.

Cast of X-Men Days of Future Past
the cast link is shown on the link below

A mutant with accelerated healing, enhanced senses, adamantium-laced skeleton and retractable bone and adamantium claws.[8][9] With the mutant race on the verge of extinction, Wolverine's healing factor makes him the only X-Man capable of withstanding the rigors of time travel. He has to survive long enough to complete the most important mission of his life: to go back in time to prevent a chain of events that will bring about the end of mutantkind.[10] Director Bryan Singer stated that "Hugh of the future is sent, his consciousness is sent into his younger self [and] Hugh gets to play both parts because [Wolverine] is ageless."[11] Writer Simon Kinberg explained in an interview why Wolverine is the time traveler and he stated "We made the decision for a lot of reasons... One reason is that he's the protagonist of the franchise, and probably the most beloved character to a mass audience."[12]
The world's most powerful telepath.[15] Xavier has watched the mutant race be slowly hunted down. But now the time has come to lead his X-Men in their greatest battle, both in the present and the past.[16] Singer described the younger Xavier as being "a very different beast from First Class' feckless playboy. He's a wounded animal, bearded, long-haired, filled with rage at the way the world has treated him."[17]
A mutant with the ability to manipulate metallic objects and described as "one of the most powerful mutants on Earth".[18] Magneto was at odds with Professor X and the X-Men for decades, but with mutant annihilation on the horizon, old animosities have to give way to new alliances.[19] Singer described McKellen's role as "also a fixture in the future war, facing an enemy so monstrous that it forces former foes to band together."[20]
A mutant with the ability of shape-shifting.[21] Singer stated that Mystique "is less innocent, evolved, getting closer to where Mystique was in X-Men 2."[22] Lawrence revealed that Mystique is split off from Lehnsherr and Xavier and she has one mission of trying to assassinate somebody. She added "we’ve seen her [Mystique] in the future and what she becomes and this is kind of a turning point for her."[23]
A mutant with the ability to manipulate the elements.[24] One of the most battle-tested and powerful X-Men, she will lead the X-Men in the toughest challenge they have ever faced.[25] Berry stated that "there’s something very revealing and shocking about Storm in this movie. There are some things you find out about her that I think give you much more insight into who she is." When asked if her pregnancy affected Storm's role, she replied "I wasn’t in as much as I was meant to be. My ever-growing belly was posing a constant challenge! What I could do was getting more limited so the role that I play is so different from what it could have been, due to my surprise pregnancy."[26]
A mutant with the ability to absorb the life force and mutant abilities of anyone she touches.[27] Paquin initially played a larger role in the film, but her role was reduced to "essentially, a cameo" after the majority of her scenes were cut in post-production.[28][29] However, Paquin is still heavily featured in the film's various promotional materials.[30][31] Kinberg stated that the special effects for Paquin's deleted scenes are being finished for the DVD release of the film.[32]
A mutant with the ability to phase through solid objects.[33] The youngest of the X-Men, she plays an important role in their fight for survival.[34] Singer described Pryde as the prime facilitator and that Pryde's phasing ability enables time-travel to happen.[35]
A mutant with super-strength, agility and speed.[36] Hoult plays the character through most of the film, and Grammer makes a cameo appearance as future Beast.[37]
A military scientist and the head of Trask Industries who created a range of robots called Sentinels whose purpose is to hunt and destroy mutants.[38] Dinklage stated that Trask "sees what he’s doing as a good thing — [his ambition is] definitely blind and he’s quite arrogant. He’s strove all his life for a certain respect and attention." He also stated that Trask is up against Richard Nixon.[39]
A mutant with the ability to create and manipulate ice as well transform his body into ice.[40]
A mutant with the ability to absorb energy to redirect it in kinetic blasts.[41] Sy described Bishop as the guy from the future and that he fights for survival.[42] Singer revealed that Bishop, along with Warpath, Sunspot and Blink, are not fresh recruits. He stated "they’re more refugees that are living day to day in this hideously ruined world. They don’t have much hope in the future. They’re on the run and they join forces with the remaining X-Men to try to do this one last attempt at fixing the world."[43]
A mutant with the ability to transform his skin into organic steel, which grants him superhuman strength, stamina, and durability.[45]
A mutant with the ability to move at supersonic speeds.[46] Peters described Quicksilver as "very fast, he talks quick, he moves quick. Everything else is very slow compared to him, it’s like he’s always at the ATM waiting for the bastard in front of him to finish."[47]
A mutant with the ability to create portals to teleport.[49] Fan stated that the film was the first of a five X-Men movie contract that she signed with 20th Century Fox.[50]
A mutant with solar-powered super-strength, near invulnerability, and the ability to use solar blasts as a means of propulsion to achieve flight.[52]
A mutant with super-strength, near invulnerability, the ability of flight and enhanced senses that give him the ability to detect approaching Sentinels several miles away.[54]
United States Army Major who hates mutants and attempts to experiment on them. He assists Trask throughout the film.[56]
A mutant with the ability to absorb cosmic energy and release it in plasma blasts. Havok can now control his powers and leaves the X-Men to join the Army during the Vietnam War.[58]
A mutant with super-strong legs, prehensile tongue and paralyzing mucus.[60]
A mutant with tattoos over different parts of his body, each given with a different power.
The president of the United States.
